Raymond Christensen, MD
Dr. Raymond G. Christensen, is a board certified Family Physician and co-founder of Gateway Family Health Clinic, LTD. in Moose Lake, MN in 1972 where he continues to practice one day a week. Raised on a small dairy farm in WI, he has a BS in Agriculture, received his M.D. from the University of WI, completed his Internship at St Mary’s Hospital Duluth, and was initially board certified in 1977. Since 2002 he has been a faculty member with the University of MN Medical School and serves as Associate Dean for Rural Health, Associate Professor of Family Medicine, and Associate Director of the Rural Physicians Associate Program.
Dr. Christensen has served in many leadership roles locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally, including the development of the NE MN and NW WI trauma system, development of the National Rural Health Resource Center, Arrowhead EMS, and the MN Office of Rural Health. He has served as adviser to the Commissioner of Health and on the MN Health Care Commission (formative body of MN Care). He remains active in his professional societies chairing the MN Medical Associations AMA Delegation, and serves as the current president of the National Rural Health Association.
