Scott Kier got his start in EMS in 1993 as a cadet with the Island Heights First Aid Squad in Island Heights, NJ. He decided very early on that he wanted to make EMS his career, which led him to Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts where he obtained his paramedic certification, and a degree in Emergency Medical Services Management. Kier spent twelve years after graduation working for American Medical Response, Springfield’s long-standing emergency service provider. In 2005 he was promoted to Operations Supervisor and served in that capacity for the next seven years acting in a leadership role for more than two hundred full time and part time EMTs and paramedics.
In December of 2012, Kier accepted a position with New Castle County Emergency Medical Services in New Castle County, Delaware. He is currently assigned to field operations and is working on the street as a paramedic. Mr. Kier also maintains a personal website, MedicSBK.com where he writes about important issues in EMS.
