William “Bill” Metcalf

Bill Metcalf is currently the Fire Chief for the North County Fire Protection District in the San Diego, CA area and is also the Immediate Past President for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. A 40 year emergency services veteran, he has been significantly involved in many major initiatives including the development of the Emergency Health Services Bachelors program at the University of Maryland – Baltimore County, five years as the State EMS Director for Colorado, and as an officer for what was known as the National Association of State EMS Directors. In 2012, Metcalf received the James O. Page Award for National EMS Leadership from the Emergency Medical Services Section of the IAFC.

Metcalf holds an AA degree in Paramedic Sciences, a Bachelors in Management, and a Masters in Organizational Leadership. He has earned the Certified Fire Chief recognition from the California State Board of Fire Services, the Chief Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
